St Austell Bay
Par is situated in St Austell Bay where there are many historic sites, sheltered beaches and inviting waters. Par Sands, a wide sandy beach, is just 10 minutes away and offers uncrowded bathing at all states of the tide.
The great sweep of the bay plays host to a vivid range of scenery, spectacle and activity which makes this an ideal touring centre within an hours drive of most major attractions in the county.
The small port of Charlestown is nearby and has changed little since its completion in 1795.
Places to Visit
The fishing village of Mevagissey and the still smaller haven of Gorran are the very essence of a Cornwall which has remained true to its roots.
Mevagisseys labyrinth of tiny streets twist and turn past ancient dwarf buildings of cob and slate central to the twin harbours.
Fowey is just four miles from Par and boasts Medieval and Tudor cottages, along with narrow, steep, winding streets with glimpses of the shimmering river below.
